| Nell - General Manager |
I have been involved with Animal Aid in one way or another for over twenty years.
I was a volunteer and a staff member at the Colchester Road shelter in Kilsyth after which I pursued a career in Veterinary Nursing. I then returned to Animal Aid in 2005 as manager of Coldstream Boarding Kennels. My current role is General Manager of Animal Aid and I am passionate about changing the face of animal sheltering in Australia. I believe that animal management and animal welfare are not mutually exclusive; in fact they are intrinsically linked. This premise is a significant aspect of all of our programs and operations here at Animal Aid. I live locally with my partner Jason and am owned by two cats, two dogs and 3 horses. |
| Debra -Marketing & Communications |
My name is Debra and I have my sister to thank for my first introduction to Animal Aid. She dragged me along to a Saturday morning volunteer dog walking session at the Kilsyth shelter 15 years ago. One session was all it took, I was instantly hooked. After 5 years of dog walking I was offered a job as a kennel attendant, and without hesitation I left a career as a technician in the water and soil chemistry field. Although it meant a substantial reduction to my pay packet, it has meant more to me than any financial reward.
I have adopted five dogs from Animal Aid in that time, and each one is precious to me, perhaps not what would appeal to everyone, but perfect for me - I’m a sucker for a hard case!
I have tried my hand at almost every aspect of operations over the years. I have worked in the kennels, both boarding and welfare, the cattery, the office and now I am trying my hand at marketing this dynamic organisation. No matter what area you work in, at Animal Aid you can guarantee that your job will never be boring. |
| Linda - Education Officer |
I have been working as the Education Officer at Animal Aid since early 2009. I have three dogs, two of whom were adopted from Animal Aid.
I work three days a week for Animal Aid and create and deliver education programs for children, adults, community groups and professionals. I also co-ordinate research at the shelter for a number of tertiary students at Honours and Doctoral level. This ensures that Animal Aid can implement the most current advance in knowledge in both our training and operations to improve the quality of life for the animals we help. |
