Bushfire Update - 3/03/09 Print E-mail

Today all of our team are very busy caring for the many pet cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens and rats that are staying with us until their families feel that it is safe to go home. There is no other time in the year that we are required to operate at such a full capacity, except perhaps the Christmas and New Year period.

While that brief space of time is busy, we know that it is finite and financially bolstered by the many pets that stay with us while their families are on holiday. This situation however is very different, all of our boarders at the moment are staying free of charge and potentially it could be this way for the next month or more.

I know we have said it before but we have been overwhelmed and so grateful for the outpouring of generosity that has been shown by so many people. However this has presented us with a problem as we are running out of storage space. Consequently we are asking all those wanting to give goods, to hold off for a few weeks until we have some room again.

Families are still coming to us on a daily basis and we are only too happy to help those in genuine need. You, our supporters,  have made it possible for us to provide the many necessities that these traumatized pets require and to get them to where they are needed most.

Our vets have been kept busy tending the patients in our care. Garfield, Boefie and Taylor the cats and Happy the Blue Heeler. You may have seen Garfield and Happy (AKA Bella) when they featured in the Herald Sun on the 16th of February. Over the next week or so we will keep you posted with their progress as the recover from their serious injuries.
