There are still a lot of people seeking our assistance, especially with stock feed and related items like horse rugs and lead ropes. While we have been very happy to help, unfortunately we are now coming to the end of our supplies. Hopefully we will be able to get our hands on some more provisions in the near future so that we can get it out to those who are in genuine need. Patient Update: Happy the Blue Heeler cross. Happy is still with us and under the circumstances she is doing very well. The high light of her week has been a very welcome visit from her dad, Reg. She was over the moon to see him and their mutual admiration was blatantly obvious. Today however she has an appointment with a specialist at Werribee to ascertain what the next steps are for her. Happy's burns are very severe, while they are healing, the skin on the soles of her feet is not thick enough to be able to stand the wear and tear of walking around. To help her with this we have provided her with some special booties that protect her sensitive new skin. There is another aspect to this story that has only just come to light, their cat Alley, which had all but been written off as yet another statistic of the bushfire, has miraculously turned up after over 5 weeks. Happy and her Dad couldn't believe their eyes when he saw the somewhat scrawnier Alley in the clinic cage. We didn't manage to catch in on film but Happy gave her a kiss through the wire and Alley returned the sentiment with a head butt. This family has been through so much, knowing that we already have and will continue to play a part in keeping them together is worth more than any amount of money that it costs to make sure that this happens. It cost us on average approximately $250 per week to treat and rehabilitate a burns victim at our clinic but seeing this happy reunion was priceless. We thank everyone who has given to our Bushfire Appeal Fund as this is what has enabled us to provide this and many other services to pets and their owners. Your donation will have a direct affect by making it possible for us to continue our successful trapping program in Marysville, our pet and stock food relief and deliveries, our emergency accommodation and of course our provision of treatment and supplies for injured animals.
