Emergency vet set up at Toolangi The view from the temporary vet at Toolangi
Our vets slept at the mobile clinic in Toolangi last night and have been treating burned large and small animals, some of whom have been evacuated out of the area today. Volunteer vet staff form Boronia Vet clinic have been manning our Coldstream clinic today and we are most grateful for their assistance.

Today we managed to get supplies through to Flowerdale and as this update is being written we have people on the road to Narbethong to evacuate a badly burnt mare and her companions (a slightly singed young stallion and an aged shetland pony). The convoy is also delivering some much needed hay and lucerne. Resupply runs have been made into Dixons creek, Steeles Creek, Glenburn & Yarra Glen. Wildlife food has been delivered to carers and property owners who are looking after fire affected fauna.

With the increased alert at Healesville, the number of animals in emergency accommodation has soared and our in-house emergency accomodation is at capacity. We are now starting to call on some of the wonderful people who have volunteered to provide foster care.

We have  evacuated a varied assortment of animals including a steer and chickens as well as horses, dogs and cats.

We cannot thank the volunteers, who are making this possible by their tireless work, enough, but thank you all. And of course everyone who has been donating supplies and money so generously. Also we must thank people who have emailed support and offers of help. We are processing these as quickly as possible and hope to respond as time allows. We hope you will understand that we are very much in a reactive mode as the situation and animal needs change from day to day.
