2009 Animal Aid Trivia Night and Silent Auction Print E-mail

Animal Aids Annual Trivia Night and Silent Auction event has grown in popularity every year and this year was no exception. A record 310 people came along to experience a competitive night of fun and games.

This year our event was hosted by York on Lilydale, a change of venue after many years of support from the International in Lilydale.  Teams of ten with animal themed names such as the Moggies, the Mongrels and the Yarra Valley Hogs all added to the atmosphere as teams pitted themselves against their competition.

Ably compared by David Philipsen of Donation Home Loans, all the questions were projected on the large screen so that nobody missed a question. Assisting in the proceedings was the very talented Suzie Johnstone, who lent her vocal skills to a cultured round of opera questions.

Our large ticket items up for grabs this year were a kindly donated by Arbonne Skin care products, Full Force Fitness and as always South Eastern Office Supplies. Trish Henderson and the gang are staunch supporters and sponsors and we can't thank them enough. Another special mention needs to go to Daniel Raeburn, AKA Shunter, for very generously donating five, half day Harley Rides at $240 a pop, Thanks!

Our silent auction items are too numerous to name them all individually, but suffice to say, they helped us to raise over $8000 on the night. Thank you to all of the businesses and individuals who provided items to auction, including Suzie Johnstone's extraordinary stuffed animal hat which was quite the talking point, proudly won by James Barnes from Petstock Lilydale.

The 2009 Animal Aid Trivia Night and Silent Auction winning team were 'The Maremmas'. For their efforts each team member was rewarded with the opportunity to sit for a black and white family portrait kindly donated by Lifestyle Portraits.

For every winner there must be a loser and unfortunately the losing team was the Krafty Kelpies made up by our Vet Clinic. Their loss was quickly forgotten however, as we consoled them with a box of wine. We look forward to next year, which we are sure that it will be just as much fun and even more successful.
