Animal Aid (AA) is an innovative animal welfare organisation that is proud to offer ‘RUV4203A Identify and respond to animal behaviour’ and ‘RUV4206A Carry out pound procedures’ as part of it’s commitment to promoting animal welfare through education. These units form part of the RUV40104 Certificate IV course in Animal Control and Regulation. This training occurs in a workplace, ensuring that participants have access the appropriate equipment and resources to acquire new skills and demonstrate their competency in them. Assessment for these units is largely practical in nature, in accord with the requirements of the RUV04 Animal Care and Management Training Package, Qualifications Framework, Assessment Guidelines. AA is in a unique position to offer participants hands-on training in a workplace. The course format for both units utilise small class sizes not only to provide a high staff:student ratio but also to provide an environment that encourages high levels of peer-group interaction and discussion for adult learners. AA believes that for participants to be able to safely and competently perform the duties required in these units, this training must take place in an appropriate workplace, where new skills can be demonstrated in a safe and supervised environment. In accord with AA’s mission statement and the requirements of the Animal Care and Management Training Package participants will be taught to handle animals gently, calmly and empathically, so that stress and discomfort to the animals can be minimized while maximizing human safety. Course materials have been compiled by a number of experts including a long-serving Animal Control Officer, Veterinarian, Animal Behaviourist, Equine specialist and Shelter Staff. Both units are offered at Animal Aid, Killara Road, Coldstream (Melways 281 F7) For further details please contact Nell Thompson or Robyn Ireland on (03) 9739 0300, or email us.
