BEQUESTS"A very special way to help Animal Aid"Leaving a Bequest to Animal Aid in your will enables us to provide ongoing help for lost, abandoned and abused animals. The survival of Animal Aid has always depended on the generosity of the Community. One of the fundamental forms of financial support that the Shelter depends on for our continuing work of animal welfare is Bequests. In planning your Will, we suggest that your first concern should be for your family and others close to you. After providing for the financial security for your loved ones you can then consider how a Bequest to Animal Aid can really make a difference. Our Bequest program is quite simple. All monies bequeathed to us are directly spent on the services we provide to animals in need in our community. You should also consider that in the case where surviving pets may be involved, potential benefactors should give clear and specific instructions to their family, friends or their executor, for their pets care and future. Animal Aid arranges “permanent foster care” rather than long-term housing in our kennels or cattery for animals whose owners have passed away. The animals are accommodated in “foster homes” with people who can provide a loving, caring, environment, similar to what it was used to. At all times we keep the situation under supervision and provide periodic veterinary checks, and ongoing care. We believe it is much better to foster “orphaned” animals in a “home environment” rather than long term housing at our facility. A Bequest to Animal Aid could take the form of either, a gift of money, a share of the residue of your estate or a gift of a particular asset such as property or shares. Whatever form of Bequest you choose, we strongly suggest that you see a Solicitor or Trustee Company to help prepare your Will. This will ensure that your wishes and intentions are both practical and that it is properly drawn up from a legal point of view. When a Bequest to Animal Aid is proposed then for the assistance of your legal advisor we suggest that the following wording could be used as a guide:- “I give ___________________ (share/residue of my estate or the sum of $_________ ) to the Victorian Animal Aid Trust of 35 Killara Road Coldstream Victoria 3770 for its general purposes and I direct that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of the Victorian Animal Aid Trust shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my trustee/s.” We thank you for your interest in leaving us a Bequest in your Will. If you do proceed and complete your intention it would be of great assistance to us if you could let us know, as we can then acknowledge your thoughtfulness and generosity in your lifetime. If you would like any further information or details about us or would like to discuss any aspect of your Bequest wishes in private, please do not hesitate to contact either our Bequest Officer David Bramley or our General Manager Ms Nell Thompson.
