Coldstream Boarding Kennels and Cattery

Established in 1983, operated by Animal Aid since 1999.

Our experienced staff includes animal technicians, veterinary nurses and dog handlers.  We provide a caring environment for dogs and cats – and peace of mind for owners, who can leave their pets with us knowing they’re in good hands. Our Animal Aid Veterinary Clinic with professional veterinary staff is on site.

The majority of our new customers are referred by Vets and other satisfied customers.

Proceeds from the Boarding Kennels and Cattery go towards funding Animal Aid's welfare programs.

Trial Stays:

Understandably, many pet owners are concerned when they leave a loved pet to board at any kennel or cattery, so we offer Trial Stays.

We recommend  a minimum of two to three days which allows us to find out how your pet will react to being in the kennels - staying with us, socialising with others, eating and most importantly being away from you, the owner and family.

Having a trial stay before you and the family actually go on holiday helps your pet adjust to kennel life and accept that you haven't abandoned them and will return. Pets do adapt to kennel life quite readily, however, it is a change that you can't explain to them. A gradual introduction makes life easier for both you and, especially, your pet.

Some owners bring their pets for several 'trial stays' before an extended trip, providing an opportunity for their pets to become more accustomed to the environment and more relaxed when the longer holiday arrives.

We have a number of strategies to make pets more comfortable during their stay.  We keep the dogs close to our own working environment and allow the dog to become part of the routine - helping them to be more comfortable with kennel life.

Customers themselves have encouraged these trial stays and we have found that it makes both the customer and their pet very happy.

Our hours:

Open daily from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm for admissions, discharges and site inspections. 

We invite your inspection of our kennels and will be only too pleased to discuss any special requests you may have.

We are not open to the public on Christmas Day, Good Friday and all Public Holidays.

Our Kennels:

Your pet can exercise in our kennels’ spacious dog runs and our boarders enjoy Royal Canin Premium Pet Food, a complete, highly palatable and nutritious diet. We also offer a variety of food that includes cooked chicken mince, ecopet loaf and 4legs.  We can also cater for pets with special dietary requirements as well as pets that require special medications.  If your pet does have particular dietary requirements, please bring the food with them, along with any instructions, and we will do as you ask.

We cater for all breeds of dogs, from tiny to large, the older pet and difficult dogs.  Dogs are accommodated in kennel blocks according to their size.  All kennels are under cover to provide shelter during inclement weather.  

There are several large well-sheltered exercise areas for energetic pets who may share playtime with a friend.

We have a completely covered in yard for those dogs that may jump fences.

Our Cattery:

Our spacious heated cattery is separate from the kennels and housed in a quiet, well-ventilated building.

Boarders here have their own tri-level “suites” where the cat can climb, sit or just relax.

They are fed Royal Canin Premium Pet Food, a wide variety of Whiskas and Dine canned food. We can cater for the fussiest of eaters and, if your cat has special dietary requirements or needs special medication, rest assured that they can be met easily and expertly.

Our Fees:

Fees vary according to your pet’s size, so please telephone us for a quote.  Just like a hotel or motel, we charge for the day of admission.  If your pet is collected (checks out) before 10.00 o'clock in the morning on the day of departure no charge applies for that day.

We accept cash, EFTPOS and major credit cards.
